5 TIPS on BUILDING a HOMEWALL (learn from my MISTAKES)
8 years ago, my dad and I built a climbing wall into the shed in our garden. This wall was far from perfect, but it was a nice start. After some years, I realized that we made a big mistake when building this wall. I made a lot of changes to the wall, and now there is not much left I would change. So I decided to give you 5 tips on building a home wall so you don’t make the same mistakes I did.

Bouldering on Hægefjell (Nissedal)
After a long journey from south Germany to Norway, I arrived at the first bouldering destination of my summer trip in 2022. Driving into the beautiful Nissedal and arriving at the Nisser lake, the weather was terrible, with rain and fog hindering the view.

Running my first ever (ultra) marathon without any training
Going up the last mountain was brutal. Even though I felt so slow and unstable, I still overtook some hikers. I felt like a Zombie going up that mountain, trying to use my poles as much as I could to help my legs as much as possible and keep my balance. I don’t want to know what it looked like from the outside. After another grueling 1,5 hours, I arrived at the Falkenstein ruin, and I could see the whole route and my finish line, which was still about 8 kilometers away.

My hardest project yet
It is the last day here on Lofoten we had a really good breakfast, and now it’s time to pack the crashpads for the last try. Chalkbag, shorts, fan, Clifbars, a left scarpa instinct, and a right Furia air. Just the perfect combination. I have to do it. I’ve climbed this boulder a hundred times, but only in my head. So now it’s time to put it on the wall. To this moment, I have done all the moves but one, the crux move. But I know now how it works. No heel hook, just putting my left foot out as far as I can and then slowly controlled take my right hand up to the small crimp and then bump up to the jug. Everything is now stuffed into the crash pads, and it’s time to leave the campsite. The boulder is just a few hundred meters away. We park at the side of the road and walk the last 150 meters to the bloc. It’s just so beautiful, even though it’s right beside the E10, the main road in Lofoten.

my 2022 was …
2022 was a rollercoaster ride with a lot of ups and as many downs. On one side, it was the best year of my life, and on the other, it was one of the worst. The year started with an injury comeback and some nice bouldering in the beautiful Chironico. Although in the nights it had around -8°C over the day it had perfect temperatures for bouldering. I actually filmed a lot there but I never managed to finish the video.
